Our company was built on the ingenuity of a homebrewer with a passion for experimentation and a deep appreciation for tradition. Near the end of 2018, we released our 1,000th batch of beer and our first hazy double IPA. Since we had such a great time with that beer, we decided we didn't need a fancy number like 1,000 to justify playing around with hops, malt, and yeast like we were homebrewing again. A yeast strain designed to maximize the amount of fruit forward flavors and aromas produces this double dry-hopped, hazy, blond, double IPA packed with Citra, Lemon Drop, Cashmere, and HBC 472 hops. Many Iowans are descendants from German immigrants so it’s fitting that we make a Bock, one of the most famous German beers. In the 18th century, during their long Lenten fast, when they could drink but not eat, monks brewed rich, bready bock beers for sustenance. Our bock came out big, burly, and chewy, hence the name, ChewBOCKa. This beast of a beer is made with a Munich malt base and German hops for a rich, full-bodied yet balanced, malty sweetness. Each batch is created with a similar malt backbone but with enough variance from its sequence of lush, tropical-forward hops to be a unique species. Our passion for maximum flavor drives our unstoppable quest for incredible hop combinations. It's designed with a softer body, sweeter profile, and low bitterness, to showcase many of today's designer hops. Every batch in this hazy series will have its own unique hops line-up. You might be tempted to shelter this creation from extinction by squirreling it away, but to truly enjoy this beer, drink it fresh... then look for the next!

A refreshing blonde ale featuring a base of two row American barley malt along with a large portion of wheat malt, a small dose of rye malt and un-malted oats, corn and wheat. It's then lightly hopped with English East Kent Goldings hops chosen for their subtle, earthy qualities and finished with Czech Saaz hops for their sweet, floral essence to create a beer that’s light in body and color, with a velvety texture and an aroma as sweet as a freshly cut field of hay.

Legend has it that on occasion the confluence of the Des Moines and the Raccoon rivers are met by an ethereal third, known to some as the river Styx. Trafficked by a cloaked and mysterious black figure who, since time immemorial, has conveyed souls from one bank to the other, pausing only occasionally to refresh his own weary spirit. A rich blend of roasted and chocolate malts layered over a dash of warming cacao and garnished with dark sweet cherries and bright orange zest, this stout is precisely the treat needed to sustain his eternal mission and bring a smile to his face. Aged in a mixture of Sauvignon Blanc, Woodford Reserve and Cognac barrels, Flemish Style Sours are meant to be balanced beers. Tart from natural souring, yes, but anchored by a sweet grist highlighted by rich caramel malts that give the beers their reddish-brown hue and a surprising drinkability. Notes of cherry, vanilla and caramel provide a pleasant sweetness that helps to even out the drying notes of oak, the spike of citrus sourness and the wild hay and funk of the mixed culture yeast used to ferment. Imogene, Iowa, is quintessential small-town Iowa - a tiny community founded by an Irish immigrant group supporting the patchwork of farms that surrounded it. Our Imogene Red is a tribute to the hundreds of small towns that dot our beloved state. This beer was created by head brewer, John Martin, in memory of his grandmother Frances Jane Dempsey Martin, who lived all 98 of her years in and around Imogene. Made with English Maris Otter and crystal malts, East Kent Golding hops, and Irish ale yeast, Imogene Red has the color, clarity, aroma, and flavor of a classic Irish ale. Irish reds are typically a smooth favorite for malty beer fans. Please join us in raising a pint in memory of Grandma Martin and in tribute to small-town Iowa.

When humans first began brewing beer, the science behind fermentation was not well understood and probably seemed a bit like magic. We now know that around 1000 AD in Goslar, in present day Germany, lactic producing bacteria from the grain and air combined with the salinity of their local water source to help the brewers produce a tart, refreshing brew that we call Gose (GO-zuh). In conjuring up a plan for this beer, we honored that natural sort of magic by culturing lactobacillus to quickly sour the whole batch.
